Description
The EWTh-2 electrode with higher thoria content offers more significant improvements in operating characteristics than electrodes with lower thoria content.
- Extra thoria boosts the current carrying capacity by about 20%.
- For AC welding, you can achieve balling by first welding with DC electrode positive before switching to AC.
- During AC welding, the balled end doesn't melt, but the emission isn't as good as that from a liquid ball on an EWP.
- Size: 1/8"
Using these Blue Demon 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes is straightforward. First, if you're doing AC welding, start by welding with DC electrode positive to get the balling effect. Then, switch to AC for the main welding process. Remember, due to the unique properties of these electrodes, the balled end won't melt during AC welding, and the emission might be a bit different compared to an EWP. As for maintenance, keep them in a dry place to prevent any damage. Also, be aware that the extra thoria in these electrodes gives them about 20% higher current - carrying capacity, so adjust your welding settings accordingly. Always follow standard safety procedures when using welding equipment.
