This tungsten electrode has 1.3 - 1.5% dispersed lanthanum oxide. It offers better arc starting and stability, less tip erosion, and a wider operating current range. It can replace 2% thoriated tungsten as a non - radioactive option since their operating characteristics are alike. It can be used for both DC and AC applications. It belongs to AWS Class EWLa - 1.5 and has a gold color. The size is 1/16'.
Using these Blue Demon lanthanated tungsten electrodes is easy. First, make sure your welding equipment is set up correctly. Insert the electrode into the holder. For DC applications, it will perform well, and the same goes for AC ones. When you start welding, you'll notice how the electrode provides a stable arc right from the start. As you use it, be aware that although it has a reduced tip erosion rate, try to avoid excessive force on the tip. To maintain these electrodes, keep them in a dry place when not in use.
