Description
The EWTh-2 electrode has a higher thoria content, which significantly enhances its operating characteristics compared to electrodes with lower thoria levels.
- Extra thoria boosts the current carrying capacity by about 20%.
- For AC welding, you can ball the electrode by using DC electrode positive before switching to AC.
- During AC welding, the balled end stays solid, but the emission isn't as good as that from a liquid ball on an EWP electrode.
- Size: 3/16'
Using these Blue Demon 2% thoriated tungsten electrodes is straightforward. When you're doing AC welding, first use DC electrode positive to ball the electrode end. This makes the welding process smoother later on. Keep in mind that because of the solid ball on the electrode during AC welding, the emission might not be as great as other types. But the high thoria content gives it about 20% more current - carrying capacity, which is a big plus. As for maintenance, store them in a dry place to prevent any damage. And always follow standard safety procedures when handling electrodes.
